Most days by 8:00am I have made my bed, my breakfast, gotten dressed, read and replied to emails, worked out, and began whatever other tasks the day demands of me. For many years, my life was a constant juggling act between work, school, social life, friends, and family, which made it difficult to find time for myself. While I certainly would prefer to be busy than bored, I also know the long-term effects this lifestyle has.
The day-to-day grind is so often filled with many demands and with these demands comes stress. When stress occurs, it is easy to feel overwhelmed, social anxiety, fear of missing out, and paralysis around what to prioritize and what can take a seat on the back burner (to learn more about your experience with these mental health issues, try taking an online test like this one: https://www.mind-diagnostics.org/social_anxiety-test/). Thus, we end up making sacrifices and we often end up cutting out our personal time.
Set Aside Some Personal Time
Taking at least an hour a day for our own personal wellbeing allows us to recharge our batteries so that we can continue focusing on everything and everyone else in our lives. I never understood the importance of personal time until I began working out on a regular basis.
While I would be lying if I said that needing personal time is what led me to work out in the first place, I would also be lying if I said that the hour it allows me to devote to myself isn’t the best result of my workouts.
I have found that even just 15 minutes at the gym allows me to refocus my energy on whatever I have going on that particular day. In fact, some of my greatest ideas have come to me while I am riding a bike that goes nowhere or when I’m in the shower. I am able to focus solely on myself, which might seem selfish, but I promise, it’s not.
My practice of alone time began in the gym. Going to the gym served as a great foundation for learning how to prioritize myself and my needs. Today, I make sure that I find that time even if it’s not at the gym in so many different ways.
If the gym isn’t for you, that’s totally fine, here are some other ideas for getting in just a few minutes of alone time each day.
Ways to Spend Your Personal Time
- Take a walk – Focus on what you’re seeing when you walk. How does the breeze feel against your skin? How green are the trees? Are the flowers blooming? Do you notice any new smells? By unplugging while you walk and focusing on the things that you’re noticing, you’re able to stay truly present and focus on yourself and what you need.
- Listen to music – Music is a great way to transport yourself to a different time and place. Throwing on your favorite tunes can boost your mood, create space for reflection, and can spark creativity. If you’re so musically inclined, playing an instrument or signing is a great way to spend time with yourself too.
- Read a book – Reading is one of the best ways to practice mindfulness because when you focus on the words on the page, you are unable to focus on outside thoughts and tasks that you otherwise would be focused on.
- Unplug – Put your phone on airplane mode and just be. Be in your space, with yourself, your family, your friends. It’s a great way to reconnect and to truly be present with the things and people that you care about.
- Try a new recipe – Cooking is a great way to get in touch with yourself. Trying a new recipe can be a fun challenge. It sparks creativity and can lead to delicious results.
- Treat yourself to something you normally wouldn’t – Whether it’s a pedicure, a new candle, a massage, or anything else, treating yourself to something that brings you genuine joy is a good way to spark joy and prioritize yourself.
- Write in a journal – Sitting down with a journal each day to write has many benefits and allows you to spend time alone with yourself and get introspective. Whether it’s a gratitude journal or a journal that has prepopulated prompts for you to answer, journaling is a great way to tap into yourself and what you truly want.
- Meditate – Get comfortable, close your eyes, and focus on your breath. Meditation is a great way to get quiet and practice mindfulness. If you’re not sure where to start, there are so many apps and websites that are great starting points.
- Get into nature – Get outside, whether it’s going for a hike or going to the beach, getting outside and experiencing nature can help you feel centered and more present.
These are just to get you started, don’t be afraid to try something new or something that you might have never thought of before. Getting outside of your comfort zone can lead to new ideas and experiences that you otherwise might not have experienced before. You might just find yourself more relaxed, refreshed and ready to take on the world with new and exciting ideas.
6 Benefits of Online Training
Also known as e-learning, online training can be described as a process of transferring your wisdom through the internet. It is also known as distance learning or computer-based training. Online training was specially designed for people who could not get direct reach to the particular subject that they wanted to study.
If you want to get trained for some kind, of course, you have to study starting from the base. For this, you have to buy physical copies of textbooks, which can be really expensive. If you are buying books from the international markets, then it becomes more costly as it includes shipping charges.
Online training, on the other hand, offers you eBooks and their personalized notes, which you can use to study your course. Online training can offer you much more than that, for example, doubt clearing videos of lectures. For instance, if you are having doubts regarding your course, you could look up these reference videos. Not only that, these online training courses give you special attention, so do try out the TAFE courses to give your resume an extraordinary outlook.
When you are attending an on-campus offline program, you have to be very particular about the time. Most of the classes start early in the morning and end in the evening. If you are attending an on-campus program, you cannot even afford to do any other co-curricular activities!
This is not in the case of online training because online programs allow you flexible hours. You may be a working man who has a job from 10-5. Even then, you could study your desired course via online coaching. Online training even saves a lot of time- since you can sit at your home and pursue it at any time of the day. You do not have to run to the coaching institute every weekend. Instead, you could study at home after taking a reasonable amount of rest. You can easily fit this online training program into your busy schedule by taking out a little time!
The only thing required for doing online training is a stable internet connection. You do not require a special material or dress code since the user log will be accessible on phones, tablets, or pcs.
In on-campus training, the teacher-student proportion is one too many. Since the teacher/instructor has to teach a lot of students, it is impossible to give you special attention when you are lagging behind in class or you have any kind of doubts. They will tell you to wait and to bring the doubts the next day. Eventually, your work will get piled up, and you will lose interest in learning that course.
This does not happen in the case of online training- as online training provides you with the best and most experienced instructors who will be available to help you 24X7! These professional instructors are always ready to help the students with their doubts, and customer care keeps on motivating the students. There are certain online training programs, most of them are paid, where the students could email their doubts to their respective educators, and then they interact with them. Chat customer support is available whenever there is an internet connection.
There are certain times when you cannot buy some kind of book because it is off the market, but you need it to get through your training course! With online training programs, these kinds of mishaps rarely happen. The eBooks are uploaded on your online program and are updated regularly. You can download them within minutes. You will also get the opportunity to interact and work with other students around the globe now. Isn’t this an amazing deal!
In an on-campus program, examinations are scheduled, so you cannot avoid it if, due to some reasons, you are unable to understand that topic. In online training programs, you are off this pressure! You can take the test whenever you want when you think that you have revised enough for the exam. Not only that, if you are not satisfied with your marks, you could always take a retest on your online training program. The best part is your answer will be unbiasedly marked, and you will get fair scores.
So, these are the 6 benefits of online training. Switch to online training programs for better education!
Netflix: 8 High-Rated Films about Teenage Life
Many people recollect their teenage years as a strange and a bit scary time when they felt the dramatic gap between their innocent childhood and independent adulthood. Teenage experiences are all about that weird feeling when you are too old for simple things and too young for many others. This is a time when you try to find your true self. That is why many people would not like to come back to those years even if someone paid them for that. But being able to hire an essay writer, an expert to help you complete your homework is just perfect. And the same people feel a sort of nostalgia for their careless teenage life with all its gains and failures. It explains why so many storytellers relate to this period in human life as a powerful source of inspiration.
The coming-of-age genre has been popular in literature for hundreds of years. It got the name ‘Bildungsroman’ at the beginning of the 19th century. Nowadays, movies about teenagers are equally popular and well-appreciated by audiences of all ages.
Netflix has a perfect collection of such movies for those who truly recollect their teenage years with a mixed feeling of joy and confusion. Here, we would like to present eight of the best movies about teenagers, which are on the Netflix streaming platform these days.
This movie is a classical comedy with the fresh and funny appeal of ‘losing virginity before the end of high school’. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg did a good job in creating the amazing subgenre of coming-of-age comedy, making it as easy and entertaining to watch as it could be imagined.
2. Can’t Hardly Wait
This movie seems to make an impression of a cute older guy, probably your cousin or neighbor, in comparison to ‘Superbad’, who has come to teach you life. Here, we see a high school graduation party summarizing all the teenage years of hopes, dreams, and expectations. The main characters are looking for closure, love, understanding, and surely, sex. The movie features ‘90s stars like the kid from ‘Hook’ or Jason Segel from the pre-’Freaks and Geeks’ cameo and many others.
3. To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before
This movie already has two sequels which are also available on Netflix you will can not stop watching it. So if you have your homework to do, it’s kind enough to tell the professional “write my essay“, and get some free time to spend it well. And no wonder. The funny and sincere world of teenage life makes all pretended relationships real, which is the biggest challenge. There are many true-to-life, kind, and warm moments, which can soften the heart of even the harshest cynic.
4. Before I Fall
This is not just about teenagers – it’s about something supernatural. So, if you prefer movies like ‘Groundhog Day’, this film is right for you. A selfish teenage girl dies in a car crash just after some party. But she wakes up the next day in the same place and within the same events just to live them over and over again. She is stuck, and the only way out for her is to realize her errors and her mean behavior towards others and never repeat these ways.
5. The Kissing Booth
This simple movie is about the forbidden high-school romance between Joey King and Jacob Elordi from ‘Euphoria’. It is Netflix’s franchise which is amazingly popular among all kinds of movie-lovers. Maybe, it is not award-winning, but it is entertaining enough to be worth seeing and remembered for a long time.
6. Lady Bird
It is one of the most popular movies of 2017. This film is Greta Gerwig’s semi-autobiographical debut as a film director. Lady Bird is a senior at a catholic school for girls in Sacramento. You can follow her complicated relationships with her mother and Timothee Chalamet, a careless indie softboy who has broken her heart. The action takes place in the early 2000s and Saoirse Ronan’s dreams for the future are related to her further career, love, and friendship. Deep and fascinating, indeed.
7. The Perks of Being a Wallflower
This is a social drama directed by Stephen Chbosky. It features an awkward loner Logan Lerman, who makes friends with two free-spirited teenagers Emma Watson and Ezra Miller who are a bit older than him. The amazing world of friendship, love, and music opens in front of the boy and catches him with its thrilling vibe.
8. 20th Century Women
This movie is about a free-spirited single mother, Dorothea, who wants two friends to help her son Jamie get more mature in his adolescence. The woman is in her 50s, but she is relaxed and open-minded enough to appreciate her pink-haired tenant who is a punk photographer and Jamie’s troubled friend Elle Fanning. This is a kind story of 1979 life in Santa Barbara talking about the role of a mother in our lives and what manhood can mean.
Of course, the life of a teenager is full of drama. But these exciting series show that there is a place for comedy, romance, and mystery in it. You can find many other good options about teenage life on Netflix, and the choice is amazingly broad. These movies are popular, well-appreciated, and they deserve your thorough attention. Put them in your list of must-see films and enjoy any time when you choose to reminisce your funny and exciting teenage years.
4 Tips to Help You Be a Better Police Officer
Becoming a top cop isn’t easy, but it’s certainly not impossible. No matter what stage of your police career you are in, there’s no reason why you can’t improve your overall law enforcement performance and, in turn, maximize your professional potential.
In order to achieve this difficult yet highly rewarding feat, you’re going to need to heed the following advice. Here are four things you can do to become a better police officer:
1. Study the art of policing
Before you can achieve your lofty aspiration of becoming a top cop, you first need to lay solid foundations for yourself within the all-encompassing, ever-changing law enforcement industry. When attempting to build a robust platform for yourself in this instance, your first port of call should be to take part in a dedicated criminology program. On this foundational course, you will be sure to gain a broader view of the overarching public safety sector. With a combined focus on policing, crime, and justice, this course will help you to get to grips with the biggest issues modern police officers face today.
If you haven’t done so already in your career, upon your graduation from your criminology course of choice, you are then advised to gain as much professional policing experience as you possibly can. By immersing yourself in a real-world, real-time law enforcement environment, you will quickly begin to understand the nuances and intricacies that govern this highly demanding field. With this level of experience and knowledge to fall back on, you will be much better placed to make prudent policing decisions in the future.
2. Learn to switch off during your downtime
Law enforcement is by no means an easy vocation. On any given shift, you could encounter a whole host of different problems, some of which could end up having an adverse effect on your mental and emotional wellbeing. If you come across these issues too often and, more importantly, fail to protect yourself against them, you could then be blighted by all manner of serious health complications going forward, one of which being raised stress levels. Subsequently, this could then result in you suffering with depression, raised blood pressure, and/or heart disease.
If you want to tend to your wellbeing and be a great police operative at the same time, finding a way to relax is highly recommended. Not only will this help you to retain a clean bill of health for much longer in life, but it will also aid you in your bid to remain fit and focused while performing your policing duties.
In order to keep your stress levels down and fend off the adverse mental impact of being a police officer, it’s highly recommended that you learn to switch off from time to time. Unfortunately, this isn’t always a straightforward task to undertake, especially for people in your intense line of work. To achieve this somewhat difficult yet incredibly important feat, you can:
1. Leave your work at work (you might be on call for emergencies, but that doesn’t mean that you have to concern yourself with your policing duties while you’re off duty)
2. Develop an afterwork ritual that helps you to transition into your downtime
3. Pick up a hobby that commands your full and undivided attention
4. Practice mindfulness and take part in deep breathing exercises
5. Release feel-good endorphins within your brain by exercising and working out
6. Be aware of your screen time — why don’t you get lost in a good book instead?
7. Minimize ‘work chat’ when you’re spending time with friends and family members
8. Make use of your vacation time and remember to book yourself a holiday every once in a while
(one thing’s for sure, you most certainly deserve it!)
3. Showcase your human side
If you’re to truly stand a chance at handling delicate situations in an optimized fashion while on duty, it’s highly recommended that you show your human side. This will help you to connect with victims, witnesses, and even suspects on a much more profound level, which in turn will increase the likelihood of them co-operating with you. Ultimately, this will result in you being provided with the information you need to push forward with your investigations.
If showing your human side doesn’t come naturally to you, fear not as help is at hand. Comprehensive advice and guidance on how to perform this all-important task can be found here.
4. Improve your physical fitness
Police work won’t just demand a lot from you on an emotional level; it will also push you to your physical limits. On any given day, you could be required to exert a lot of energy in order to catch and reprimand potential suspects. In order to ensure that you’re up to task of keeping up with all those criminals out there, it’s highly recommended that you make an effort to improve your physical fitness.
Here are three workouts that are perfect for first responders such as yourself:
1. Push-ups — this simple yet effective exercise will work out your shoulders, back, and core muscles, ultimately making you far stronger and much more robust
2. Squats — this exercise will drastically improve your lower-body strength, something that will decrease the likelihood of you suffering with debilitating, career-ending knee injuries
3. Cardio — improving your cardiovascular endurance will allow you to walk, jog, and run for longer intervals, something that will no doubt come in handy should you ever find yourself embroiled in a foot chase
Determined to reach the peak of your powers as a police officer? If so, it’s highly recommended that you put all of the advice laid out above into practice. Do that, and you’ll no doubt be considered a top cop in no time.
